Premarital Screening and Counseling:

As students of today are the potential parents of tomorrow, this age group becomes a special target group to work with. Considering this fact, through various efforts made by the dedicated staff of TCPP, Project ‘Life’ has succeeded in making Thalassaemia testing mandatory for the students of Saurashtra University and various other colleges affiliated to it. So far more than 2 lac students have been screened for Thalassaemia.

The message that is spread around is simple and clear. The dedicated team of counselors at TCPP always stress on the importance of choosing a non Thalassaemia Minor life partner to those identified as having Thalassaemia Minor or Thalassaemia related cases. The TCPP unit also offers facilities as in-house testing and organizes special screening programs, to be able to reach out to the non student community as well, of whom over 9 lac persons are believed to be carriers of Thalassaemia Minor trait.

I am a Thalassaemic child!

Taking life as it comes puts one on cloud nine,

Have I to suffer for no fault of mine!

All that was needed was a little precaution,

Life for me has turned into suffering and medication!

Awareness is the need of the hour,

Self restraint can save a life from getting sour!

Seek the welfare of the next generation,

Ask not why this new education!

Every life has a right to bloom,

Mine unfortunately is destined to doom!

In every young person let there be wisdom,

Avoid Thalassaemia Major and experience freedom!
