 The PHC Infrastructure Development program was initiated after the devastating earthquake of 2001. According to the understanding between the Government of Gujarat and Project ‘Life’ , the Primary Health Centres would be constructed by Project ‘Life’ and then handed over to the Health department of Government of Gujarat for its management. This project of constructing the planned 5 PHCs has been successfully completed in the year 2008.
The well planned construction of these PHC ensures to cover the minutest needs of the PHC. The thoughtful construction of staff quarters has played a key role in rendering round the clock service through preventive and curative measures.
In these PHCs medicines are in adequate supply of medicines and the medical equipments are in place. This coupled with service minded and dedicated staff can pave the path for these PHCs to grow into a full fledged hospitals and continue to serve its people with specilized services.
Prior to the construction of these PHCs, people of the respective areas and its neighboring villages were forced to avail the expensive services of private doctors. Due to this partnership between the Government of Gujarat and Project ‘Life’, these PHCs provide affordable and accessible services to over 265 thousand people in the locality.
