Lucky Draw for Voluntary Blood Donors at Rajkot Voluntary Blood Bank
 
The Importance of voluntary blood donation is incomparable since blood can make a difference between life and death in a crisis situation. For this reason, Rajkot Voluntary Blood Bank intends to go an   extra mile to motivate the voluntary blood donors by initiating a LUCKY DRAW each month for in house blood and platelet donors at the blood bank. Joining of Dr. Rajesh Sawant, M.D (Path), PDCR; as Medical Director of Rajkot Voluntary Blood Bank.
 
Dr. Rajesh B Sawant, an eminent Specialist, Scientist and an Associate Professor in the field of Transfusion Medicine has joined the Rajkot Voluntary Blood Bank & Research Centre as Director from 29th January 2009. He has been an Associate Professor and Assistant Physician in Transfusion Medicine and has worked in KEM and Tata Memorial Hospitals in Mumbai  as well as at Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research & Education (ACTREC) in Navi Mumbai.
 
We welcome him and under his guidance, RVBB will achieve its goal of highest excellence in blood banking.

Training Programme - Widows project: Over 1100 widows from the districts of Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad would receive training in the month of Feb, 09. Once the training is completed, they would also be assisted in marketing the products.
 
Best School Award – The Best School Award was announced by the Chairman of Project ‘Life’, Mr Harshad Mehta and by Ms. Asha Parekh in May 2008. The schools would be evaluated on academic performance as well as administration and infrastructural facilities. The ceremony to give away the Best School Awards is scheduled for March, 09. The school which stands first would receive a cheque of Rs. 25000, the second Rs. 11,000 and the third one Rs. 5000.
 
Yoga Health Shibir: Under the guidance of Dr. Kamal Parikh,  a Yoga Shibir will  be  organized at Project ‘Life’, Racecourse Ring road, Rajkot,  from 9th to 13th February, 09 (6.30 a.m -8.30 a.m.)
 
Women’s Special Yoga Shibir: A special Yoga shibir for women  will be organized at Project ‘Life’, Race course Ring Road, Rajkot from 9th February   to 13th February 2009 (Time: 5.00 p.m. - 6.30 p.m.)
 
Free Yoga Promotional Program: This program would be organized for 3 consecutive days i.e. 19th, 20th and 21st Feb, 09 at Project ‘Life’ which would bring about greater awareness amongst the participants on the causes of obesity. It would also offer yogic solutions to life’s problems. (Time: 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. & 6:30 p.m.  to 8:00 p.m.)
 
Lecture on ‘Art of Parenting’: A lecture on ‘Art of Parenting’ will be delivered by Dr, Kamal Parikh (M.D) on 22nd February, 09 at 10 a.m., as part of the ongoing lecture series ‘ How not to fall sick’ . Venue: Project ‘Life’, Race course Ring Road, Rajkot.

  • Saurashtra Medical Educational and Charitable Trust has completed three decades of serving humanity on 29th November, 2008
  • Rajkot Voluntary Blood Bank completed 27 years of its mission in saving lives on 6th Dec, 08. 
  • The Jamnadas Odhavji Sheth Scholarship Program commences on 1st of December, 08. The Scholarship Program would continue till the end of the academic year 2008-09. Eligible students from 4th to 10th standard of 35 schools would be able to benefit from this program 
  • The ‘Basic Value Education Program’ (Paya Ni Kelavni in Guajrati) that aims at bringing about hygiene awareness and at instilling the importance of keeping not only oneself but also ones’ surrounding and village clean, would continue till the end of the academic year 2008-09. This program has already been implemented in 34 schools constructed by Project ‘Life’. 
  • The Shrimati Kanchanben Kantilal Mehta Secondary School at Aliabada, Jamnagar District was dedicated on 6th December, 08 and the Shrimati Pushpaben Keshavlal Lakshmichand Modi Primary School at Gavridad, Rajkot District was dedicated on 13th December, 08. With the dedication of these schools many students will be able to learn and accomplish their dreams.
