January 28th 2009 was a golden day for the people of Gavridad, a village which is 16 kilometers away from Rajkot. Smt. Pushpaben Keshavlal Modi, aged 85 years, popularly known as Baa; dedicated the Smt. Pushpaben Keshavlal Laxmichand Modi Primary School at Gavridad which would be instrumental in shaping the future of the young ignited and creative minds. This scared temple of knowledge comprises of 14 classrooms, separate toilet facilities for boys and girls and a strong compound wall. Besides Smt. Pushpaben Keshavlal Modi, Mr. Harshad Mehta, Chairman of Project ‘Life’ and his family members graced this joyful occasion. This event was also attended by the Board Members and the senior management of Project ‘Life’.
Motivating the children of this village, Mr. Bhavin, the grandson of Smt. Pushpaben Keshavlal Modi, rightly said that this reconstructed school would play an important role in empowering the children of this village. He added that empowerment would be followed up by confidence and it would help the students to free themselves from their fears. This act of building the school provided the villagers with an opportunity to work together and contribute their mite to the development of the school by pooling in funds for the construction of the compound wall thus being a partner in this venture. This school, he added would truly change the future of Gavridad and its people.
